My laptop is hooked to an externalk monitor. How can I close its lid without putting into sleep mode?

If your laptop is running Windows XP, right click the desktop and select properties. Click the screen saver tab, and then the power button in the lower right hand corner. Click the advanced tab. Select an option from the "when I close the lid" drop down menu.

With Windows 7 or Vista, you can use different settings for when the laptop is on battery or AC power. To access these setting options, click start, type power in the start search box, then select power options. Click choose what closing the lid does and select the option you want.
